wondering about God?
Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. 5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.
I hope that none of you will have a problem with the title and overlook the message but this is what God gave me. The title is an athletic term, but if you read this passage carefully, Jesus is telling us to “Go Deep”.
In the 5th chapter of Luke, Jesus comes to two boats that were empty because the fishermen had left them and were washing their nets. It appears that they had just come in from a night of fishing and were cleaning up when Jesus asked Peter to put forth a little from the shore and he began to talk to the people. After Jesus is finished he tells Peter to take his ship into the deep water for a catch. Peter and the fishermen are tired because they have toiled all night and caught nothing. How Frustrating!
Sometimes we stay in situations that limit our potential a little too long, that dead-end job, for example. We work hard for seemingly nothing and we are frustrated. We are sometimes in spiritually shallow water where we can’t get a fresh word or a fresh anointing, no fresh move of God and we are tired and frustrated. Jesus is saying to us “Go Deep”! Go Deep in prayer and fasting, Go Deep in the Word of God.
What I am trying to tell you is to get out of the shallow water of doubt, of faithlessness toward God. Get out of the shallow water of envy and strife and Go into the deep water of Faith in God. Get out of the shallow water of habits and actions that displease God and move into the deep water of the Righteousness of God. Get out of the shallow water of not becoming all of what God wants you to be and Get into the deep water of becoming God’s Good and Faithful Servant. Go Deep!
